University of Toledo’s 32nd annual Art on the Mall – The Blade

Our owner, Traeonna, attended the University of Toledo’s 32nd annual Art on the Mall—a beloved, free community art event that draws more than 100 talented artists each year. The juried show features an eclectic mix of acrylics, glass, pen and ink, oils, mixed media, metals, photography, ceramics, textiles, watercolor, woodwork, jewelry, and more.

Among the artists featured was Aya Kang (Instagram: @aya.m.kang_studio), a Toledo-based ceramicist whose handcrafted porcelain and stoneware reflect the elegance and simplicity of traditional Japanese design. She placed second at the art show for her beautiful work.

A photograph of Traeonna was also featured in The Blade’s coverage of the event (image 16 in the article’s photo gallery). Her look for the day followed a black, white, and red theme and was fusion-styled. She wore a black and white hitoe komon kimono paired with a black obi and a red leather wide belt, blending traditional Japanese elements with modern flair. She completed the ensemble with black kagome wedge sandals, black-and-white cat earrings, and a black and white pagoda parasol—perfect touches for a scorching summer afternoon.
