Taking the name from the Japanese word issho, meaning together, this convention wants to focus on the attendees and follow Otaku Detroit’s store motto of “Community not customers!” This convention is filled with everything that fans look forward to: Artist Alley, Video Game Hall, TableTop Gaming Room, Cosplay contests, guest panels, celebrity meet and greets, Ribbon Game, and photoshoot meetups.

Sponsored by Otaku Detroit, a Black and queer-owned small business that focuses on anime and Japanese culture. Hosted at Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest (1275 S Huron St, Ypsilanti MI). Registration required.

This cherry blossom festival celebrates Japanese culture and customs. Enjoy the blooming of the nine cherry trees in the Japanese Garden while being entertained by live music, games, and activities.

Organized by the Lima Sister Cities Association. Hosted at LSCA Japanese Garden (202 W Eureka St, Lima OH), 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Free Admission.

This annual picnic celebrates the blossoming cherry trees in the Sakura Garden and features music, bon odori dance, activities, concessions, shopping, and more! This year features the Godaiko Drummers, the Tanoshii Taiko Tai (GLTC), and the Sakura Japanese Instrumental Group.

Hosted at Michigan State University Tollgate Farm and Education Center (28115 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi MI), 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cost of admission is $10 per person (for ages 4 and under are free). Tickets are non-refundable, and pre-registration is required (deadline May 4, 2025, 11:45 PM).

The Cleveland Asian Festival (CAF) is an annual celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage month in Cleveland’s AsiaTown neighborhood. This festival highlights the diverse Asian culture in Northeast Ohio and features Asian cuisine, cultural performances, an Asian pop dance competition, martial arts, a trivia challenge, the world marketplace, and more!

The festival aims to promote and celebrate the diverse cultures and heritage of the Asian community in Columbus, Ohio. The event will feature cultural performances, demonstrations, Asian cuisine vendors, a marketplace, and a variety of activities suitable for all ages!

A farmer’s market-style showcase of local BIPOC+, women+, and immigrant-owned small businesses. It features family-friendly fun activities organized by the University of Toledo, Center of International Studies and Program. Other activities include music and performances from around the world including Molly’s Irish Dancers, Taiko Drumming, and DJ Amjad.

Summer Bash will include events such as panels, anime karaoke, and gaming provided by Grand Finals Gaming. There will be a cosplay contest, local artists and vendors selling their items at the event, and more!

This annual matsuri (festival) celebrating Obon will feature food, games, shopping, dancing, performances, kimono fashion show, cosplay fashion show, and so much more!

Matsuri (祭) means festival in Japanese. This conventions thinks of themselves as a festival of everything geeky and otaku, from anime to video games, Doctor Who to Marvel, My Little Pony to Homestuck, and everything in between.

Hosted at Hyatt Regency Columbus (350 N High St, Columbus OH) and Greater Columbus Convention Center (400 N High St, Columbus OH). Registration required.

This annual festival features performing groups (vocal, instrumental, dance, and martial arts) that represent not only the 12 countries of Toledo’s sister cities (Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Poland, Spain, and Tanzania) but also many of the other ethnic communities of the Toledo area. There will also be a variety of food from at least 4 different countries, a Language Corner where a little bit of a different language is taught every half hour, activities, and much more!

Organized by Toledo Sister Cities International and hosted at Erie Street Market (201 S Erie St, Toledo OH), 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Cost of admission is $5 (ages 12 and under FREE).
